Trying My Patience

Things that make my patience wear thin

About

I'm not overly cynical or critical. The surrounding world just repeatedly fails to meet my standards and expectations.

Builders and buyers of expensive but-ugly housing n posh locations - you are trying my patience.

It must have been roughly around a hundred years ago when people decided that no more beautiful houses were to be built. Or did we just the one text book mankind ever had on decent architecture.

Every new house built lacks character at best. Usually they look worse.

Whenever someone talks about a beautiful house it’s always an old one.

When rich snotnose undeserving yuppies invest in a new house, or a condo in a new building they don’t seem to want beautiful architecture. They just want walls, floors, ceiling and some doors and windows, lots of electronic appliances, and a posh location.

Look honey, this is exactly right for our budget. Why invest two million dollars in a historic mansion between a lake and a forest, where we and our children can breathe fresh air, be close to nature and really feel what it’s like to be living? We should just buy the 3-bedroom shoebox, designed to look like a shoebox in the polluted suburb of the big city.

  1. The supposed excuse for the general “uglification” of new housing is cost, but an architect of mine told me that they could easily build something closer to older architecture without making it more expensive.
