Trying My Patience

You people using the expression swimming against the current - you are trying my patience.

You say that about other people as if it’s a good thing.

Oh, he’s a great guy. He really swims against the current!

Let me tell you something. Literally swimming against the current is for fish only. When humans do it - they drown! Swimmers caught in rips or streams that swim against the current deplete their strength in no time and go under. Ask any lifeguard or rescue worker.

So you see swimming against the current isn’t such a swell idea after all.

Here’s some equally stupid expressions you can use, if you’re looking to further your eloquence:

He lies down in front of the road roller.

He really soaks himself in gas and jumps into the fire.

He ties the dog’s leash around his nut’s and then throws the stick.
